The ANGKASA AIR Award

The National Space Agency (ANGKASA) is establishing an Artist-In-Residence Fellowship. The Fellowship aims to diversify the approach of ANGKASA towards its public promotion programmes in order to enhance creativity and innovations, at the same time inspiring artistic ideas in line with space science as a whole.

The National Planetarium is ANGKASA's main showcase to the public. It is intended to create an environment of learning through a different experience that will engender curiosity about space and the world. We invite artists, writers, poets, dancers, scientists, educators and all others interested in the fusion of the arts and space science to apply.

We expect the outcome to be interdisciplinary projects that combine the arts and space science. Goals of the fellowship are:
- By developing new insights and understanding of space science through incorporating artistic process with the scientific investigative process.

- To produce artistic works that enhances the role of the National Planetarium as a centre of space education. To initiate internal and public discourse on relationships among the arts, sciences and humanities through topics related to multidisciplinary and multicultural activities.

- To elucidate by example the role that artists can play in a scientific realm.

The Residency Benefit Fellowship will receive RM48,000.00 over a period of ten months, including assistance in developing connections with potential collaborators and facilities at other institutions.
