Rocket Launching Technology Challenge
Objectives
Rocket launching technology competition aims are to achieve the following objectives:
- To instill interest, enhance understanding, skills and community knowledge in the field of science and space technology.
- To instill culture in students a creative and innovative mindset.
- To provide a base which will help in enhancing their understanding for application of theory and concept that been learned with a technical activity.
- To make the field of science and space challenging yet fun for them.
Challenge Justification
Rocket launching technology is a platform to the public in the use and application of space. The launching of a large object like the space shuttle is a very complex operation, but scientist have been successful in launching huge space ships into space orbit because they understood the laws of nature that explains how an object is able to move.
To date, each rocket launching program still holds to the basic laws. This theory and concept is used in Rocket Launching Technology Challenge. There are many scientific applications in this challenge and among them are the motion concept, forces in action, energy conversion principle, trajectory and flight principles which requires the students to completely understand beforehand.
Students are required to create a satisfactory rocket in hopes that it will give a minimum friction force in a very creative style.
