1989

Planetarium Division established under the Prime Minister’s Department.

1993

Space Science Studies (BAKSA) established with extended sphere of responsibilities it was envisioned to undertake.

1995

Transfer to Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment in July after 18 month of smooth operation.

2002

National Space Agency (ANGKASA) established with a mandate to formulate policy and regulations for, coordinate, implement and monitor space activities.

2004

Amalgamation of BAKSA into ANGKASA


ANGKASA (National Space Agency) consist of four divisions:-
1. Operations and Space System Division with its operations centre based at the National Space Centre.
2. Technology Development & Applications Division based at the National Space Centre.
3. Space Science & Education Division based at National Planetarium, Kuala Lumpur.
4. Administration & Human Resource Division based at Putrajaya Headquaters.
