National Space Agency (ANGKASA) will be organizing a Partial Lunar Eclipse Observation Program at the National Planetarium on 4 June 2012 from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.. Public are invited to observe the phenomena through a few telescopes that will be setup during the event. You will also have opportunity to observe the Planet Mars and Saturn through telescopes if weather is permitting. credit: PUSKAL Sabah credit: University of New Mexico [EarthSky] Kuala Lumpur, 21 May - People across Sabah and Sarawak were lucky enough to witness the phenomenon of Partial Lunar Eclipse this morning. The eclipse started as soon as the sun rise and ends at 6:50 am. However, some places couldn't witness the eclipse due to cloud cover. Solar Eclipse occurs when the position of the Earth, Moon and Sun are in a line and the Moon will cover up the surface of the Sun. People in China, Taiwan, Japan and the Western United States witnessed the Annular Eclipse while the Sun was seen in form of a ring. Unfortunately, people in Peninsular Malaysia could not see this phenomenon. The next Solar Eclipse will occur in November 2012. |

On 6 June 2012, the planet Venus will move across the face of the Sun if viewed from the Earth. In Malaysia, this phenomena will starts occur since the Sun rises and ends at 12:50 pm. The last Venus Transit was in 8 June 2004. |

On the 9 May 2012 (8:00 am to 10:00pm), the National Space Agency (ANGKASA) with cooperation of Curriculum Development Centre, the Ministry of Education has successfully organized the Astronomy Workshop for Primary School Teachers at the National Planetarium. The workshop was organized to provide science teachers about the basic knowledge of astronomy in accordance to the school syllabus, with the hope that they acquire sufficient knowledge and preparing them in the field of astronomy for enhancement of their teaching activities in school. |
