Ground Station PDF Print E-mail

Ground stations or also known as Earth stations are the terrestrial end of a communication link to an object in outer space. Ground stations regularly receive data from various satellites so as to provide data over selected areas. These stations are used communicate and monitor the satellites, checking both their operational health and their exact position in space. One satellite may be able to communicate with few ground stations. The master ground station is used to transmit commands and corrections to the satellite as well as to receive the satellite health status and position in space.

There are several ground stations for remote sensing satellites located in Malaysia, namely the Mission Operation Centre (MOC) at the Malaysia Space Centre and MACRES Ground Receiving Station (MGRS) located at Temerloh, Pahang. Another ground station for telecommunication satellite, called a teleport, which is meant for the operational of MEASAT fleet, is located just outside of Kuala Lumpur.

Assembly, Integration and Test Centre PDF Print E-mail
This centre will be used for most of the assembly and integration works for a satellite as well as the launch and environmental testing for a satellite. It comprises of various test equipment such as the Vibration Test System, the Thermal Vacuum Chamber, the Electromagnetic Chamber, the Reverberation Acoustic Test Facility, the Mass Properties Measurement System and the Alignment Measurement System. This centre is also located at the Malaysia Space Centre and is due for completion in 2010.
